An Inconvenient Truth
Yesterday, I went along to a little antique theatre showing the abovenamed documentary/infomentary about global warming. Quite interesting. It covers the lectures of Al Gore, who since losing the election to George W. has been travelling the world to help educate and clarify about what is happening to our planet at the moment, and is predicted to happen in the next 50 years. Not pretty. It presents the facts about global warming, which normally appear in the papers below more shocking and provoking news such as wars and local crimes.

Click to Walk
Came across this site while browsing around the gumtree while at work. Its the result of a little project that someone has been working on. It allows you to “walk” around central edinburgh through clicking where you want to go. Like a little adventure game without the adventure really. Pretty cool concept though.

R*cruiters
What the hell. Got yet another phone call from Reed Technology today asking for proof of address for my second flat in London. To fill you in on the current situation, when I started my current job, I was asked for my last 4 years addresses, bank statments, passport, visa, proof of current address, references, and anything else you can think of. I provided all this and thought it was fine.
Since then I’ve had a few calls saying they can’t find certain items and that I would have to resubmit them once again (like proof of address). Wait a few months, then oh, we can’t find a copy of your passport, can you bring it in again. Idiots.
This time I’m expected to pull proof of an address I lived at nearly 5 years ago, where I wasn’t on the lease and the landlord was returning our mail because of that same reason. I’ve found that I can access the bank statements online back to this time, but will need to go into a branch and see if they can print one with an old address on it. So, here I am hoping that a Victorian banking system has the ability to please the circus of recruiters down in the Reed office.
Everytime they phone me i’m sure I can hear jingles (do do do-lo-lo do-do), dancing elephants and clowns in the background….

Bionic Arms
Another news story about the possibilities that are opening up for the future. A bionic arm that is controlled simply by thinking.

X-Ray Vision
Freaky. Another step closer in the ideas that Sci-fi has brought to us over the years. They have finally developed X-Ray vision.

Epidemics.
Have been reading more and more in the last few weeks (or the same article constantly rewritten) about the rising epidemic of overweight people in the world. The stats are something insane now, with 1/6 of the human population being overweight and 300 million people being obese. Compared to that there are 800 million hungry people in the world. Weird to think that it would be overtaken, but it seems it has finally happened. And won’t really stop there…
Does this mean that there will be new charities set up around the world, where the well known $1 a day concept will now apply to funding skipping ropes, running shoes, swimming classes and food education?
Or will there be a fruit and veggie food stamp concept to help bring around a balanced diet for people within these statistics?
Or will the TV adverts change to people chowing down on burgers, supersizing up their meals, going through drive throughs late at night, or just close-ups of some greasy goodness?
I’m just waiting to find out

Skype Me!
I’ve installed Skype on my laptop, and got myself a headset to start chatting to people over the web. Looks like i’m running a call-from-home telemarketing operation. The tricky bit is figuring out who uses the system. Sooooo, if you use Skype email me with your username, or just search and add me to your contact list
Chat soon!

Who’s Hungry?
I’ve just added a meals page with some random photos of the stuff that i’ve been eating. Everyone loves pictures of food. Pity there isn’t a rating system on here to see what you all like the most. I’ll try to update it when I can, and depending on what turns out the best…
Go to the Meals Page (to get there normally there is a link off my Food page).
